Student artwork on display.

You will notice this message coming a bit earlier today, as we know many of you are ready to enjoy some family time while watching the Super Bowl. Don’t forget, we still have school tomorrow.
😀

Given the activity of recent immigration enforcement in our surrounding community, we are aware of the significant impact this may have on many of our students. EUSD is committed to the success of all students and believes that every school site should be a safe and welcoming place for all students and their families.

In EUSD, our school staff works to ensure all students are supported both academically and with any social-emotional needs they may have. If students are feeling stressed, anxious, or are struggling with regulating their reactions, our staff works to find ways to assist.  We are fortunate to have a social worker at each school, and middle schools have counselors, as well. Each school also has a Family Liaison who is prepared to offer resources, support, and parent education opportunities for our students’ parents and guardians.

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.

Holiday reminder:

All EUSD schools and the district office will be closed Friday, February 13, and Monday, February 16, in observance of the President’s Day holiday.

Museum pass:

February is Museum Month in San Diego County, with half-price admission offered at more than 60 museums. Visit the Escondido Public Library to pick up a free Museum Month pass, or go to the San Diego Museum Council website for more information.

Spring Break Day Camps:

EUSD Expanded Learning is excited to offer three No-Cost Spring Break Day Camp options:

An email/text with details and a link to the interest form will be sent on Monday, February 9, to all families. Camp participants will engage in a wide variety of activities designed to give students a fun, interactive, and safe spring break experience. Space is limited, and a random lottery will be held if interest exceeds the available space. Families will be notified of enrollment status (enrolled or waitlisted) in early March.

Summative ELPAC:

Students in kindergarten through grade eight who are classified as English learners will take the Summative ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) every year until they are reclassified as proficient in English. Administration of the Summative ELPAC began in EUSD on Monday, February 2, and will continue through Friday, May 29. Each school has a specific testing window within the EUSD window. If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal. To learn more about the ELPAC, go to the Starting Smarter Website.

Resources for Food Assistance

We want to make sure families are aware of local resources that offer free food and support for those who may need it. Here are a few options available in our community:

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need help connecting with these resources.

Breakfast and Lunch Menus:

All EUSD students have access to no-cost breakfast and lunch.  Families can view our new online menus.  Select your school and menu to see what is being served every day.
