This Thursday, October 17, we invite our students to participate in the "Caps for the Cure" event in honor of all children who have experienced cancer, including Joshua Whitten, an amazing former Bernardo student. We are asking each student to wear a hat to school and for each family to consider donating $1 (dollar bills are preferred over coins) towards this organization that supports work in finding a cure for childhood cancers.

Bernardo Elementary Picture Day is tomorrow, Thursday, 9/05/24. Pacific Portraits will be coming to campus for a traditional picture day!
Clothing: Come dressed in school dress code! Solid colors or subtle patterns are geat options on picture day. Shirts with large patterns, slogans, or anything shiny tend to be distracting in pictures.

Hey Mountaineers, here are some Safety Tips to Beat the Heat!
* Be cool & stay in the shade. Direct sunlight can speed up the effect of heat on your body.
* Wear sunscreen and sun glasses to protect your skin and eyes.
* Avoid outdoor activities during peak times, stay indoors from 10am-4pm if possible.
* H2O to Go - Stay hydrated even if you're not thirsty. Avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol.
* Take a cool shower if you're feeling overheated.
* Wear light-colored and lightweight clothing.
* Be a good neighbor, check-in with those most at risk, like the elderly, children, and pets.

During the workshops SDZWA will provide snacks and beverages, childcare for up to two children, and each adult participant will also receive a $25 gift card for transportation and a $50 gift card for participation. Each participant and any children who participate in childcare will also be able to visit the Zoo or Safari Park for free on the same day as the event. See you there!
